This Moment
October 2020
I haven’t taken the time to paint in way too long. This has been stuck in my head for a while and finally put it on to a canvas. #art #arttherapy #whatsinmyhead

Alicia's Artwork, circa 2018
Quiet, 2018
Quiet - 26 April 2018 - This was my first piece, sitting waiting for others to arrive to an art group. I was following the direction of YouTube artist “Painting with Jane." The video is titled “Mystical Moon Step by Step Acrylic Painting on Canvas for Beginners”(https://youtu.be/iS6CgV-2YPM)
Peace, 2018
Peace - 28 April 2018 - This was done watching watching YouTube artist “theartsherpa.” I found a new technique with this one using q-tips for the flowers on the tree and how to use color to show something is background or foreground. I had a lot of fun with this one. The video is titled “Wisteria Willow Tree Q Tip Painting Technique for BEGINNERS EASY Acrylic Painting” (https://youtu.be/kQ_c74mq-og)
Relax, 2018
Relax - 6 May 2018 - This was instruction of "theartsherpa" on YouTube again. I learned more about blending and relaxing during the painting process. I can’t always see the end result while I am in the middle of the painting and this one is no different. The video title is “Cherry Tree holding the Moon Step by Step Acrylic Painting for Beginners” (https://youtu.be/80EShp14Vb4)
Forrest Dreams, 2018
Forrest Dreams - 7-8 May 2018 - Who doesn’t love Bob Ross? This painting was a bit trickier because I don’t use oils I use acrylic so I did some research on how to complete the same look while using acrylic instead of oils. I came up with something I think worked. This painting is gesso and acrylic. I wouldn't have thought to use the gesso for painting if I hadn’t watched “Golden Rays of Sunshine” (https://youtu.be/zxj3xLDNxo0)
Rainy Afternoon, 2018
Rainy Afternoon - 11 May 2018 - I have found that I like the way Painting with Jane teaches and her explanations make sense to me. This was my first attempt with a pallet knife. It was difficult but exciting to try. I was so happy with the way this came out I wanted to hang it as soon as I was finished. “A walk in the Rain Step by Step Acrylic Painting on Canvas for Beginners” (https://youtu.be/uU1FAvWp0MY)
Reflection, 2018
Reflection - 12 May 2018 - This one was me, no videos, no instruction just a photo for inspiration. Photo credit @shipwreckphotography.
Growth, 2018
Growth - 12-13 May 2018 - This was me, using techniques that I have learned in this process. I am excited that I am learning and able to see progression through my paintings.
Untitled, 2018
A veteran friend that works at the VA asked for a painting for her office... this is what I created for her. I used the outline from a sticker I got at the WSC.
Quiet Breeze, 2018
This was not the idea I had when I started...I can’t say I’m disappointed though. I titled this one Quiet Breeze. I didn’t know that I could just let the painting talk to me...this one did.
