The 1,000 pieces design is simple and flawed, much like my life. If I have learned nothing else through processing my traumas and injuries, I have learned that “right side up” is an illusion and sometimes “upside down” is more stable. Life may even be better standing on our heads than trying to stand upright. I rest my bike upside down or on the front handle bars and front wheel. I have found it takes far less energy to rest this way than trying to force something to balance unnaturally. Moving on a bike with square wheels is possible and I’ll take that any day over being broken into individual parts. Take note of the seat, shaped like a disfigured infinity sign to represent of the reality that transcendental living is not possible (at least in my opinion). We all carry our experiences for a lifetime and I am hoping to learn how to make sitting on that seat less painful. Anyone that has every biked knows how painful the seats can be until you condition your bottom. Living with our experiences is a lot like a bike seat. A real pain in the ass but a platform to establish the connection between past, present, and future with the opportunity to move forward.

I have figured out how to piece together my life and it is not by doing it myself. Others propel me...in the past I would have denied any awareness of such “crazy talk” but my injuries, flashbacks, and nightmares are as real as when the events were taking place. I was alone during my traumatic events but I have decided that I don’t want to be alone anymore. I cannot change the past, but I can change the present and future.
